Residential & Local, Full & Part Time
Looking for a job that’s more than just a job? Being on Menla’s staff means being part of a community, working for a meaningful cause in a healthy and beautiful environment. A mix of residential and non-residential positions are needed throughout the year, with both full-time and part-time opportunities. Our staff consists of 20-35 people, depending on the time of year, across five departments: Front of House, Kitchen, Housekeeping, Maintenance, and Spa. Working here is dynamic, inspiring, and fun, though since our staff is small, we all work hard and sometimes wear many hats.
We are seeking self-motivated, hard-working staff who are hard-working, friendly and flexible, have excellent customer service skills, and a desire to offer the best of themselves in a unique nurturing environment.
While Menla is not a 24/7 dharma center, numerous dharma and yoga retreats take place here. Our staff is invited to attend Menla-sponsored classes and many yoga programs, schedule permitting.
In addition, the staff benefits from exposure to a wide variety of spiritual and holistic paradigms and personal interactions with people of diverse backgrounds and perspectives. Working here provides an opportunity to give service not only to our wonderful guests but to a deeply important cause. We are a 501 c3 organization with our Headquarters–Tibet House US–being in Manhattan by Union Square. Tibet House US is the Dalai Lama’s Tibetan Cultural Center in America

Jan 24, 2021 Full Details“As a residential employee, Menla is a beautiful place to live. Work doesn’t feel like work when surrounded by the natural beauty of upstate New York. The co-workers are all caring and dedicated, and form a community, rather than a workplace. I am grateful to make my home in such an environment of compassion and peace, and to make a living here as well.”

“Please thank all the staff for the kindness and care of service to us. It was felt by ALL. It allowed us to provide a nourishing container to the women who came to our retreat, all of whom are doing some form of service work out in the world be it in the arts, in social justice, in climate change,in philanthropy, in healing trauma, and in caring for people’s physical and emotional well being. We all need time to replenish!”

“Menla is a truly inspiring place to live and work. I can’t imagine a better environment in the US for me to be of service, help a very meaningful cause, and learn about Tibet, Buddhism, yoga, and the world of health & wellness. I have a tremendous amount of gratitude for Robert & Nena Thurman’s vision, not to mention for everyone else who helps make Menla a place I can feel genuinely proud to work for.”
