Before Tibet House owned Menla, Eva Pierrakos established her Center for the Living Force here and gave channeled teachings on spiritual self-transformation from a being she called simply The Guide. Eva’s favorite meditation spot was the old wooden bench that sits at the head of the pond today, having survived every major flood due to hurricanes and tropical storms. The pond is a mystical spot and favorite personal meditation sanctuary. More intrepid guests might take a quick dip in the cold waters on a hot day.
“Really enjoyed my time at Menla. It’s amazingly peaceful and quiet, the people are incredibly nice and approachable, the humility of the Dalai Lama permeates throughout the place. The accommodations are nice and the food is great.”

“The food was divine! I’m not a vegetarian and will say the meat was not missed while here. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay…. The staff was warm and courteous. Space very conducive for retreat. Great common spaces for community and plenty of space for solitude. Will return again.”

“Homerun. One of the best retreats I’ve ever attended. Was an incredible treat especially to have so much access to Krishna Das, and I will never forget the Robert Thurman’s hysterical and insightful words. Incredibly inspiring and powerful weekend!”
