Body & Mind: Yoga and Mindfulness in Tumultuous Times

November 01 - November 03, 2019

Mark Epstein, M.D.

Lucienne Vidah

Yoga and meditation are both invaluable tools for the management of anxiety, and both have emerged in American mainstream culture over the past decade. Needed now more than ever, each comes from ancient living traditions whose purpose is to help us live our lives without debilitating stress, depression, fear, resentment, muscle tension, fatigue, or addictive craving.Too often, however, as is often the case in modern Western culture, when yoga is practiced simply as exercise or when meditation is taught solely as stress relief, their greater therapeutic potential is neglected. Join Buddhist psychiatrist Dr. Mark Epstein and Senior Iyengar Yoga teacher Lucienne Vidah in this special retreat designed to make room for a deeper appreciation of these living traditions, helping to integrate them into our daily lives.Suitable both for relative beginners and for long-time students of meditation and/or yoga, this retreat consists of four extended periods of intensive yoga, three deep-dive discussion sessions, mindfulness instruction, group meditation practice, and Q&A. While the bulk of the retreat is designed to foster the integration of body and mind that both yoga and meditation hold dear, there will be ample time for healing spa treatments, mountain hikes, journaling, and conversation among fellow participants. Please note: a minimum of one year of recent yoga asana experience is required to comfortably participate.
