Buddha & the Warrior Sage: the Sacred Armor of Heart-Wisdom

August 04 - August 07, 2022

Jai Dev Singh

Robert A.F. Thurman

Amidst culture wars, actual wars, and pervasive interpersonal conflict at home and abroad, this hybrid summer retreat is designed to rejuvenate our spirits, heal our bodies, and inspire our minds. In our highly-connected, fast-paced modern world, it’s time we rise up and stand with our hearts held high and open. With tremendous adversity staring us down, we can choose instead to come together to center the force of loving compassion into the nucleus of our lives. Here we learn to meet each day with great courage, to look our suffering directly in its eye, and thus to heal through its bitter yet potent medicines.  Here, we taste the real sweetness of our joy, often lying latent and always needing nourishment. We prioritize good laughter, loving kindness, and spiritual practice. We remember to cheer up, to loosen up, to feel fully alive. We cultivate our conscious interconnection with one another and all beings who live on Earth. This joyful weekend gathering will bring forth the ancient yogas of body, mind, and emotions, revealed especially through the dharma poetry, mythic legends, and practical teachings of both the great Dalai Lamas and the Sikh Gurus. We’ll discover the extraordinary capacity to overcome our inner enemies of anger, hatred, and violence while skillfully dealing with our outer enemies, knowing that as with all the great warriors and sages throughout time, each of us must traverse the heroic journey of our mysterious life-path with fearlessness, hope, and the genuine courage that timeless wisdom and simple practices can provide us.Together we will reboot our nervous system, balance our glands, and center our life-force. In these ways and through connecting in community, we will activate the sacred armor of compassion, the majestic sword of wisdom, and the victorious force of Dharma in our lives.Click Register Now above if you wish to register to attend in person at Menla.
