From Surviving to Thriving: Practical Compassion and Emotional Self-Regulation

April 01 - April 03, 2022

Kim John Payne

Break free of old unwanted patterns of action – reaction in your relationships with partners, children, co-workers, extended family and friends.

This unique workshop will explore...

  • A powerful meditative approach that can be used right in the moment to help you stay centered, balanced, and calm when people around you are “pushing your buttons”
  • Responding in a way that gives others a feeling of being heard and still puts a boundary in place
  • Tuning in to your body-based tensions and early warning signs to prevent escalation
  • How to avoiding damaging patterns of behavior and communication
  • Slowing down interactions that are moving too fast
  • Making a relational repair quickly and smoothly if you expressed frustration or anger in a way that intensified conflict or caused hurt
  • Opening up a much wider range of helpful responses, from kind and caring to firm and straight

Often when people around us trigger us, we find ourselves reacting in ways that are far from our principles, further inflaming a situation. This approach can be used anywhere, anytime and prepares you so that the voice you speak with is closer to the person you want to be. These concrete and simple techniques can help us be at our best, even in the most challenging of times.

Internationally recognized adult educator and counselor Kim John Payne M.ED, author of the best selling Simplicity Parenting and Being At Your Best When Your Kids Are At Their Worst, broadens the scope of successful family strategies to include transforming challenging relationships wherever we encounter them.
