Journeying Through Dream Realms: Awakening the Healing Potential Within

December 07 - December 10, 2023

Machiel Klerk

Since ancient times, dreams have been considered a pathway to connect with the healing Gods. Menla was named after the Medicine Buddha, Sangye Menla, and the Menla property was gifted to Tibet House US by the Asclepius Foundation, which was itself named after the ancient Greek God of Healing. The Asclepius Foundation had planned to turn the property into a healing center for advanced cancer patients, incorporating dreamwork as an integral part of the therapy by following the ancient Greek tradition of sick people traveling to the Isle of Delos to attempt to communicate with Asclepius during dreams in order to discover the root causes of their illness and the cure. Many people have remarked that their dreams are super vivid at Menla, and His Holiness the Dalai Lama claimed he had the “best sleep in North America” at Menla! To honor the Aesclepian tradition and the importance of dream yoga in the Tibetan traditions and many others around the world, we are offering a three-day workshop with Machiel Klerk focused on dream practices that tap into the healing and creative intelligence of our dream and waking states. Machiel will guide participants through practical and easy to implement exercises to create questions, inquiries and rituals that enable us to better access the medicine of our dreams. This workshop offers an opportunity to seek guidance for any issue relevant to your personal journey or matters of the soul, such as healing creativity or relationships. Throughout the workshop, we will explore the world of dreams, both at night and waking consciousness since the dreamworld is always present. You will learn about the nature of dreaming in general and how to work with your dreams specifically. You will have the opportunity to share your own dream experiences, receive guidance and insights, and discover and heal through the world of dreams. Whether you're new to dream work or an experienced practitioner, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to deepen your understanding of the healing potential of dreams and gain valuable tools for unlocking this divine power. This retreat is scheduled in December, before the heavy snows of deep winter, in large part because of the stunning silence and tranquility of that time of year, which coupled with decreased daytime sunlight is conducive to sleeping very well.
