Eric Rosenbush

The Healing Science of Tibet includes a vast ocean of therapeutic techniques capable of restoring health, treating disease, and rejuvenating the body. As the bodywork system of Tibetan Medicine, the art of KuNye Massage is based on the philosophy and yogic science of Tantric Buddhism. This course will introduce students to the basic principles of Tibetan Medicine, especially as they apply to the practice of massage and external therapies. In this first level training, we will learn the basic components of  how to give a KuNye session. The practice of KuNye employs a wide variety of techniques. Aromatic herbal oils are prepared, following principles of Tibetan herbalism. These are then selected to balance the elemental condition of the patient. The actual session consists of stages, first penetrating the oil deeply into the body, followed by deeper massage techniques to open the joints and muscles. KuNye also utilizes a unique system of points and energy channels, which can also be used to treat a variety of conditions.Topics will include:TIBETAN MEDICINE INTRODUCTION• Medicine Buddha meditation, breathing and simple yogic practices for healers• Basic theory and cosmology of Tibetan Medicine• Essential anatomy and physiology, how to see the body in the context of external therapy practiceKUNYE MASSAGE TECHNIQUES• Applications of Tibetan medical principles to the practice of massage• Preparation and use of herbal oils for different constitutions• KU: Techniques of oil penetration• TSIK JOR: Facilitated joint movement• SOWA: Application of heat using stones, compresses, and other techniques• NYE: An introduction to the wide variety of massage techniques used in KuNye therapy• CHI: Oil removal
