Over 1500 years ago the Indian monk Bodhidharma brought Chan/Zen Buddhism to China.  He created and taught 3 Buddhist Qigong practices to the Shaolin monks, including the Yi Jin Jing, the Classic of Muscle Tendon Change.  In this set one circulates Qi and blood through the tendons, ligaments, fascia and bone marrow to increase strength, flexibility and resilience in the body.  As the Chinese believe that negative emotions physically dwell in specific organs, we will also move the Qi and blood through the meridians to each organ to nourish it and transform its negative emotion to a positive virtue.  For example the sadness in the lungs becomes kindness, the frenzy in the heart to joy, the anger in the liver to enthusiasm.  We will work with Lungs/Large Intestine, Stomach/Spleen, Heart/Small Intestine, Urinary Bladder/Kidneys, Pericardium/Triple Warmer, and Gall Bladder/Liver, and their corresponding emotions and virtues–a complete system.  The overall effect is to create a Body/Mind that is strong and vital, an emotional sensibility that is intelligent and virtuous, and a mind that is clear and conscious.  In my practice of the Yi Jin Jing, everything that is negative just melts away, vitality meets virtue, and my awareness more pure and subtle.  Where anything is possible!   Which in today’s world is no longer a luxury but a true necessity!!We will first warm up the body.  Then do practices that help us to discover and express our natural rhythms and artistic/poetic nature.  To be in touch with our natural flow of energy will make everything much easier to do, more inspiring and much more fun!We will work with the entire Yi Jin Jing in each workshop, focusing more on Lungs, Large Intestine, Stomach and Spleen in April; Heart, Small Intestine, Urinary Bladder and Kidneys in May; and Pericardium, Triple Warmer, Gall Bladder and Liver in June.We will conclude with special Xi Breathing to heal our Body/Mind.Everyone is welcome!   |   Video links of all the practices will be available.Saturday, April 18: 10am-12:30pm and 2-5pm ETSaturday, May 16: 10am-12:30pm and 2-5pm ETSaturday, June 20: 10am-12:30pm and 2-5pm ETTo attend one day: General:$50/Members:$45  |   To attend all three days: General:$135/Members: $121.50.
