We're all experiencing one of the strangest, most challenging periods in our lives. And for parents, the pressure’s on. How can we be the wise and loving support we know our children deserve? Especially when we’re stressed to the max? How can we move through the shame of our imperfections to show up for our kids? The answer lies in the science of attachment, neuroscience and mindfulness: we parents must take care of ourselves. In fact, from a scientific and Buddhist point of view, self-care IS child-care. It’s never been more important for parents to learn how to regulate themselves.
In this one-day workshop renowned authors and parenting experts Kim John Payne and Bethany Saltman will share some of the most fascinating research that will help parents understand why self-regulation is so important, and then offer tools for “being at your best when your child is at their worst.”

“Menla is indeed magical, a place out of time that is rich in presence. The vibrational quality of this sanctuary is palpable as well as the magnificent natural beauty. Healing, peaceful and luminous with Light, a pilgrimage to Menla evokes the proverbial Medicine Mountain, and yet it is so close to NYC. Our Ayurvedic massage and experience at Dewa Spa was transporting, regenerative and deeply nourishing. Looking forward to our next retreat here and sharing this treasure with friends.”

“Really enjoyed my time at Menla. It’s amazingly peaceful and quiet, the people are incredibly nice and approachable, the humility of the Dalai Lama permeates throughout the place. The accommodations are nice and the food is great.”

“The experience I’ve had as a volunteer here at Menla has been a unique one. I had recently experienced the loss of a number of friends, and of my father, before coming up for a retreat, and then coming back as a volunteer. Not only was the work I did up in these gorgeous mountains an amazingly cathartic experience, but the support I received from the community that exists here was unlike anything I had previously experienced.”
