Tibetan Rejuvenation Retreat

November 09 - November 12, 2023

Dr. James Bae

Each season provides a unique window into the Art of Rejuvenation, known as “Chulen” in Tibetan Medicine (Sowa Rigpa). Autumn is a season when the wind (lung) element is predominant, and seasonal practices of Tibetan Yoga, meditation, and bodily therapies can nurture healthy rhythms in sleep and digestion and prepare your mind for stillness and deep nourishment. In this fall retreat, we will continue with studies in both medical and spiritual Chulen. Emphasis will be on aspects of subtle physiology and the relationship between wind and mind. Returning participants will cultivate a richer understanding of the meditation practices guided at our summer rejuvenation retreat.Dr. James will provide further information on seasonal self-care and will detail specific Chulen disciplines for the autumn. Participants can make use of Sowa Rigpa therapies such as KuNye massage, Shirodhara, and steam sessions along with tailored therapies as per your constitution. If you missed our last rejuvenation retreat, you’ll learn the foundations of Chulen according to Tibetan medicine and the yogic tradition. We’ll begin to learn more rejuvenation herbs and seasonal regimens as per constitution.Silent meditation in the form of shamatha (calm-abiding), vipashyana and other non-conceptual meditation practices will be further elucidated.Take time to experience traditional Chulen medicines, deeply relax into stillness, cultivate the resources for profound meditation into the winter season.
