Forrest Lahens is an energetic and compassionate therapist who has been practicing the art of massage therapy for over 20 years. In this time, he has worked for various day spas, built a private practice and participated in corporate chair massage events throughout New York city. Forrest’s style of bodywork incorporates the ancient acupressure technique of shiatsu as well as the long and short strokes of Swedish massage. He has masterfully developed a full body massage that combines compression, light stretches and range of motion that targets all the joints of the body. His style offers integrative bodywork that promotes the physical and emotional well-being of his clients.
In June of 2020 an opportunity emerged for Forrest to plant and harvest medicinal herbs at Seed Song Farm in Kingston, NY. After spending a season in the Hudson Valley region Forrest has chosen quality of life rather than the hustle and bustle of NYC. Forrest believes in the vitality of good health and the balance of mind, body, and spirit. What is placed in the body orally, mentally, spiritually and visually reflects who you are. A sound regiment of a healthy diet, drinking plenty of water, daily exercise, and monthly massages will keep your body at optimal performance.
“The speakers and yoga instructors were giants in their fields, and people came from Holland, Germany, San Francisco, Chicago, Boston, NYC, Brooklyn, Missouri… Being around friendly and happy people with positive attitudes interested in understanding and enjoying life in all it’s vicissitudes, curiosity, and making a better world was intoxicating…”

“Menla is one of my favorite retreat centers in the world. The natural beauty, the wonderful staff and great accommodations always make the experience of leading a retreat effortless and graceful. The blessings of HH Dalai Lama and many other Great Beings who have been there usher us into our own True Nature with joy and ease.”

“As a residential employee, Menla is a beautiful place to live. Work doesn’t feel like work when surrounded by the natural beauty of upstate New York. The co-workers are all caring and dedicated, and form a community, rather than a workplace. I am grateful to make my home in such an environment of compassion and peace, and to make a living here as well.”
