Juan’s journey of self-discovery began in his teenage years with plant medicine. Soon after finishing school, he ventured into the Amazonian jungle to continue learning from indigenous traditions, realizing that the wisdom he sought was safeguarded by wisdom keepers around the world. Through his medicine journey and exploration of the healing arts, he connected deeply with Yoga practices, falling in love with the maps and tools Yoga offers to navigate life with peace, harmony, joy, and profound gratitude for this miracle.
For the past 20 years, Juan has diligently practiced and taught Yoga for over a decade. He has immersed himself in various Yoga traditions, including Ashtanga, Iyengar, and Sivananda, as well as more contemporary approaches such as Vinyasa and Yin Yoga. Juan’s teachings have taken him around the world—from New Zealand, Australia, and Europe to Mexico, and now the United States, where he recently moved. His method of sharing the essence of Yoga is fun, approachable, and applicable to everyday life. Juan’s classes are fluid, strong, soft, fun, and deep, helping participants expand their capacity to move through life with ease, strength, and surrender. After his classes, you will feel stronger, more flexible, and fit for life—physically, mentally, and emotionally.
In addition to his plant medicine and yogic studies, Juan is trained in massage therapy and energy healing, providing him with a deeper understanding of health and well-being.
“Yoga is a tool, but you are the creator. It is in your hands to take the right action to embody and live the life that you truly desire.
“Loved Menla and all the experiences they offer… I attended morning yoga with different instructors who were excellent and fully over indulged with the veggie buffet with gluten-free and vegan options. Many fresh greens from the organic on-site garden. Delicious!”

“As a residential employee, Menla is a beautiful place to live. Work doesn’t feel like work when surrounded by the natural beauty of upstate New York. The co-workers are all caring and dedicated, and form a community, rather than a workplace. I am grateful to make my home in such an environment of compassion and peace, and to make a living here as well.”

“Of all the places I have traveled for retreats, Menla is the BEST!”
