As a clinical social worker, Kathryn became curious about massage therapy through her work with clients enrolled in The Swedish Institute in NYC. Her curiosity led to a 20 year long exploration of bodywork techniques and modalities, ranging from Swedish to KuNye, Western to Eastern philosophies. She has worked in many settings, including yoga institutes, medical hospitals, wellness centers, and her own private studio in Phoenicia, NY.
During the course of her practice and study, Kathryn has gathered a wealth of knowledge and developed a keen intuition which she applies to each individual and each session. Her attunement to her clients, as well as her hands-on skills, have resulted in long-term therapeutic relationships, many spanning decades. She greatly enjoys her work at Menla as a compliment to her private practice. The vibrant beauty of the physical surroundings, coupled with the Dewa Spa’s authentic intention of wellness creates a thoroughly nurturing environment.
“I came for a “basic” KuNye treatment which was anything but. Kathryn was my therapist and given my relative inexperience with spa treatments, the combination of heat, aromatics of the chosen oils, along with Kathryn’s gentle manner yet firm and capable hands, made for a comfortable and transformative experience. Highly recommended. Thanks Kathryn!” – Ken Steuer
“I had a spectacular KuNye treatment with Kathryn. It was so uniquely different than most standard therapies -and- also combined familiar western massage elements. Definitely don’t hesitate. You’ll relax into a heavenly state of being.” – Lisa Lightman
“Kathryn’s massage was more than just a body rub-down which in itself, under her amazing hands, was glorious, but it became a major event when she opened my crown chakra to the ever blue cosmos.” – Lisa Tucker
“My massage with Kathryn was the best I’ve ever had!” – Henri T.
“It was a lovely weekend as it always is at Menla! Thank you. It truly is a special place in many ways. The people who work there and run the place really do make the difference, as they are all very nice and kind. I’ve been to other like places where that typically isn’t the case. I realized this past weekend that just being at Menla is simply awesome!”

“Menla is indeed magical, a place out of time that is rich in presence. The vibrational quality of this sanctuary is palpable as well as the magnificent natural beauty. Healing, peaceful and luminous with Light, a pilgrimage to Menla evokes the proverbial Medicine Mountain, and yet it is so close to NYC. Our Ayurvedic massage and experience at Dewa Spa was transporting, regenerative and deeply nourishing. Looking forward to our next retreat here and sharing this treasure with friends.”
