Maya has been a therapist both in NY and LA for 20 years. She was certified in 2003 in Los Angeles, and immediately started working on mostly basketball players at the Ritz Carlton in Marina del Rey. She worked for years at the spas of the Four Seasons Beverly Hills, the Chateau Marmont, the Sunset Tower, and the St. Regis San Francisco, working on mainly celebrity and athlete clientele. She relocated to NY in 2019, and though she spends a majority of her time now as a documentary producer for the climate crisis, she adores offering massage as medicine.
Maya‘s massage has been called “a strong ocean wave rolling over you.” Maya‘s most requested modality is Deep Tissue, but she is also trained in Swedish, Lymphatic, Sports, Thai, Shiatsu, Trigger, Hot Stone, Reflexology, and CranioSacral. She traveled to Hawai’i to train with indigenous elders in Lomi Lomi Hawaiian massage
“About a three-hour bus ride from Port Authority Bus Terminal to Menla. As the landscape changes from cityscape to mountains, and as you witness your cell phone signal strength dwindle to “no service,” you quite literally unplug yourself from the mundane hustle and bustle of everyday life back to simplicity of nature.”

“My favorite retreat center in the East coast. A real abode of the Dharma.”

“This is a beautiful retreat center complete with spa nestled in the lush green countryside of the Catskills. Peace and tranquility are the first to greet you upon arriving at Menla. The staff is warm, professional, and helpful. I have had a couple of massages with hot rocks by a very competent and knowledgeable massage therapist. He is the BEST I have ever had, and I highly recommend going to DEWA Spa at Menla”
