I’m Melisse, owner and instructor at Art Retreat NYC. I’ve loved art since childhood – it always felt like an escape. While I left college with a BS in Literature and Writing (my other passions), just 5 years later my career shifted to my first love, art. From that point on, I’ve always managed, in one way or another, to lead a creative life. Whether painting custom invitations, selling my work at art festivals, or helping others tap into their own creative curiosity, art continues to be the linchpin in this charmed life.I love making art alongside others and watching them learn to love the process of creating. I believe strongly in the therapeutic benefits of art and play. Creating art allows us to slow down and be present – moment to moment – together.I have a magical art studio in New York City where I offer group and private classes both in person and on-line.
