Phakyab Rinpoche is a ranking Tibetan Buddhist lama in the Gelugpa order. Born in Kham, Tibet in 1966 at the age of thirteen he was ordained and began his monastic training at Ashi Monastery. After leaving Tibet, he entered Sera Mey Monastery in India where he was tutored by Khenpo Lobsang Jamyang and Khensur Tinle Topgye. In 1994, he was recognized as the eighth reincarnation of the Phagyab lama, a renowned Buddhist teacher from Eastern Tibet.
Rinpoche is a powerful exemplar of the potential we all have to cultivate the life of the Bodhisattva or spiritual hero. He brings humility, cheer and boundless compassion to his teaching, and his personal story of self-healing from several severe medical conditions vividly demonstrates our inherent potential to heal ourselves physically, mentally and emotionally. His radical healing has astonished his doctors, friends and students alike and serves as a vivid reminder that we all have the ability to transform obstacles into resources for spiritual awakening.
“Menla is one of my favorite retreat centers in the world. The natural beauty, the wonderful staff and great accommodations always make the experience of leading a retreat effortless and graceful. The blessings of HH Dalai Lama and many other Great Beings who have been there usher us into our own True Nature with joy and ease.”
“I honestly can’t say enough good things about this space, the land, the facilities, the staff, the stewards, their events. I will never forget this place and hope to come back. Forever grateful for such beautiful blessings!”
“The Menla Cleanse Getaway was the most peaceful, knowledgeable and supportive environment I have ever experienced for my annual detox. The juices and raw food were creatively prepared and delicious, and the staff was caring and unobtrusive. Being supported by the gorgeous sacred land, a stunning new spa and many wise healers facilitated profound renewal for me on all levels. I am filled with gratitude for Chisti and her team, and I will definitely return!”
