Dear Friends and Supporters of Tibet House US/Menla,
Summer Greetings! We hope this announcement finds you, your family and friends safe and well in these surreal times. Along with so many other non-profits, Tibet House US/Menla finds itself in a financial crisis.
Since closing in March, we have been doing our utmost to offer online programs, and we are re-opening Menla in July for individual “Create-Your-Own Getaway“ retreats.
We have reduced our core staff and are depending on increased volunteer efforts. We are determined to emerge from this global crisis into a “new normal,” stronger and more resilient than ever, together with you, our community of supporters.
We are deeply moved by a most generous pledge from an anonymous supporter who has offered a matching-challenge grant of up to $250,000 to help see Tibet House US/Menla through, so we can continue our mission on behalf of the Tibetan people and His Holiness the Dalai Lama. His Holiness is aware of our situation, and we share with you his letter of support.
Join us in this important effort, which begins on the Dalai Lama’s birthday, July 6, and will run for three months. We are facing our greatest challenge since our founding 33 years ago. If ever there were a time to support us — this is it.
We will survive this crisis with your kind help! Remember, all tax-deductible donations large or small will be matched dollar for dollar up to $250,000.

We are grateful for your generosity and support in keeping our beloved institution alive and well. We wish you and your family continued health and happiness!
Sincerely, Nena and Robert Thurman on behalf of the Tibet House Board and Staff

“This was hands down the best spiritual retreat experience I’ve had since I left my teacher’s ashram. Omega, Kripalu, Esalen don’t compare to the lovely energy happening at Menla. The small, intimate facilities allow them to make delicious food, very sattvic & each meal feels restoring to vitality. The staff is very kind and helpful. Everyone we met seemed to have a fullness of heart and a strong dedication to be of service to the place & the guests. The environs are gorgeous! The hiking trails are well marked. I could spend 100 days here & never wish for the outside world. I cannot recommend this place more.”

“You have to experience it to believe the kindness & caring concern shown, not to mention mind-blowing teachings.”

“A Paradise in the mountains. Usually you expect basic accommodations for a Retreat Center, but the rooms are amazing.”
